Antonette Anuwe, M.A., L.P.A.

Antonette Anuwe

Antonette Anuwe, M.A., L.P.A. offers a diverse array of psychological assessment and professional counseling services. Joining Gearing Up in 2015, she brings excellent experience from psychiatric settings, educational environments, and psychologist offices specializing in forensic services and psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. Antonette has completed extensive training in the administration and scoring of psychological testing, intellectual and educational testing, and professional report writing. In 2016, she completed an advanced training program in projective personality testing and is now working under the supervision of Gearing Up Clinical Director, Dr. Milton Gearing.

Antonette has a passion to help children and teens. In previous positions, she worked with children struggling with both developmental and social challenges. In that capacity, she conducted play therapy and group activities and games geared toward enhancing social skills. In addition, Antonette provided education to their parents to help them support their child’s continued social and emotional development.

Educated at two of the most prominent universities in Texas, Baylor University and Texas A&M University, Antonette has developed an intense and unwavering interest in professional excellence. At Baylor, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Studies. She graduated with her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M at Corpus Christi.

Tina Doyle-Hines, M.A., L.P.C.

Tina Doyle Hines brings her exceptional poise, clinical expertise, and years of outstanding experience to Gearing Up. For thirteen years, Tina served our country in the United States Air Force where she deepened her understanding of mental health issues and her commitment to serving the welfare of others. During that time, she managed direct patient care, oversaw the mentoring of 180 Medical Service Corps officers in graduate level healthcare administration and leadership, and approved and tracked command level correspondence, performance evaluations, and awards.

Her outstanding service contributed to Tina’s perceptive and thoughtful approach to counseling. Her amazing, nuanced understanding of client issues helps her to establish attainable therapeutic goals accurately and effectively. She is gifted in establishing rapport and creating a comfortable and safe therapeutic environment with each client. Compassionate, perceptive, and a keen listener, Tina helps her clients invest in the process of therapy to achieve their goals.

Due to her years of experience with hundreds of clients in the military and other settings, Tina has a professional interest in trauma. She understands that life can be painful, challenging, and even devastating at times. Traumatic events eventually visit all of us. Tina delivers highly skilled treatment for all types of trauma and has completed supervision and training in Complex Trauma. She is committed to teaching her clients the coping skills they need to tackle the tough experiences and issues associated with Complex Trauma. Her greatest hope is to help her clients move beyond their painful experiences to build a life of achievement and contribution.

Tina is an expert in the most cutting edge therapies in the industry. She has completed fifty-five hours of advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She works closely with Dr. Sylvia Gearing to guide her clients through this amazing curriculum of coping skills that can lead to unprecedented improvement. She also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and more to achieves the goals of her clients.

Alisha Garcia, M.S., L.P.C.

Alisha Garcia brings a fresh perspective, professional enthusiasm, and her soothing demeanor to her clients at Gearing Up. She is a supportive and engaged clinician who strives to make therapy not only warm and nurturing for her clients but also highly effective. She has worked in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings in her early career and has crafted an excellent approach to complex counseling issues with children, adolescents, and adults.

Prior to joining Gearing Up, Alisha developed her psychotherapy skills in a broad array of psychiatric settings. Recently, she was a program specialist at the prestigious Excel Center in Lewisville. She led groups for children and adolescents to teach them effective coping skills to use at home and at school. She coached them on understanding and implementing these skills in the real world and helped them to decrease their emotional distress and self-sabotaging behaviors.

At Millwood Hospital, Alisha was an intake specialist where she conducted intake assessments, individual therapy, and group therapy on a weekly basis. She regularly dealt with emergency psychiatric and crisis stabilization issues in an inpatient setting. Alisha has also been an early intervention specialist in a well-known public agency where she provided individual therapy for children and family therapy for both children and adults.

Brandi Herzog, M.A., L.P.C., L.C.D.C.

Brandi Herzog offers her clients a unique blend of therapy. By combining her professional counseling training, art therapy experience, and other therapeutic and holistic approaches, she delivers an integrated therapy experience to her clients that breaks the mold of traditional talk therapy models. Integrated approaches in mental health that combine evidence based counseling methods with other therapeutic approaches such as art and music therapy, yoga, and nutritional classes have been shown to enhance and accelerate healing from trauma, depression, and anxiety. Integrated therapy methods may even lower the chance of future relapse.

As a part of the Gearing Up treatment team, Brandi strives to design the most effective and compassionate treatment approach with her clients. Brandi is skilled in using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to facilitate mastery of fundamental coping skills including mindfulness training, distress tolerance skills, and emotional regulation skills. Brandi’s professional counseling expertise includes complex trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and addiction and substance abuse issues.

Brandi has extensive experience conducting individual and group therapy in inpatient and residential hospital settings. She coordinated care with physicians and psychologists and other mental health professionals to better serve her clients. In an Advocacy Center for Crime Victims, Brandi has counseled both children and adults who were victims of violent crimes, sexual abuse, neglect, and trauma. In this setting she conducted group therapy, art therapy, substance abuse counseling, and trained parents in developing more effective parenting skills.

Brandi graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Baylor University. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is a fully accredited Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in the State of Texas.

June Holcomb, M.A., L.P.C., L.C.D.C.

June Goodman

June Holcomb is a talented and highly skilled counselor who has devoted her life to mastering the science and art of professional counseling. She brings vast experience in mood disorders, addictions, crisis intervention, trauma, personality disorders, individual counseling and assessments, and marital and couples counseling. She is an enthusiastic and welcoming counselor who sincerely meets her clients where they are and moves them forward to success. She works hard to understand her client’s goals and ambitions while remaining focused on the practical steps that they must take to achieve their dreams.

Prior to joining Gearing Up, June was an intensive outpatient substance abuse counselor for the Dallas County Community Supervision and Corrections Department. Following her work in substance abuse at the CSCD, she became the clinical team leader for Transicare where she supervised a team of case managers. Her team was charged with providing assessments and counseling for inmates in the Dallas County Crisis Services Project. June has been credited with training, mentoring, and overseeing a clinical team that has greatly reduced recidivism in the corrections system and has improved the mental health of their clients.

June graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Shortly after, she earned her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Amberton University. She has earned the prestigious designation of Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas.

Yolanda Patko, M.Ed., L.P.C.

Success in counseling begins with the best professionals. With her dedication and outstanding experience, Yolanda Patko offers exceptional counseling services at Gearing Up. She has been in private practice for many years and offers an invaluable perspective that can only be achieved through years of clinical practice. In her private practice work, Yolanda provided individual therapy to people of all ages from diverse populations and in myriad settings. She practiced child directed play therapy that was instrumental in helping families resolve trauma and stress. Yolanda worked with families and couples in addressing difficult problems and moving them to lasting solutions. She enjoys an excellent reputation as a seasoned and compassionate counselor.

During the last fourteen years in the counseling field, Yolanda has demonstrated tremendous proficiency in not only counseling services but also in the world of academics. She was an adjunct professor in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences of multiple universities in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas. She taught courses in many different areas of psychology including general psychology, social psychology, theories of personality, abnormal psychology, counseling theories and techniques, lifespan development, and child growth and development. Drawing upon her academic career to inform her clinical practice has been a vital key to her professional success. She believes that science can tremendously benefit her counseling work and improve her clinical outcomes.

Since joining Gearing Up, she has completed fifty-five hours of advanced and rigorous professional training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT includes many effective coping skills, emotion regulation strategies, and innovative approaches to handling emotions and behaviors. This approach has revolutionized the treatment of mood disorders, trauma conditions, and stress conditions across the world. Yolanda works with Gearing Up’s DBT Program Leader, Dr. Sylvia Gearing, in DBT skills groups to help clients learn and practice these invaluable coping skills. She is a member of the Gearing Up DBT Team and enjoys collaborating with her colleagues in providing the best service to her clients.

Melissa is the Clinical Supervisor of Gearing Up's Adolescent Services.

Highly accomplished counselor Melissa Woods joins Gearing Up with specialties in psychological testing and adolescent and adult therapies.

Fluent in Spanish and equipped with over ten years of experience, Melissa possesses a keen understanding of a variety of psychological disorders, treatments and therapies. As a forensic evaluator, she has evaluated hundreds of adolescents, adults and their families for court.

As an L.P.C. Supervisor, she has overseen countless other evaluations vital for the court. In addition, Melissa has spearheaded Family Training Programs, Anger Management Programs for individuals and families, and has conducted therapy and assessments in Spanish for many years.
